Created for the XXXhibition at Bar SK and Pax Aus, this is one of my favourite designs. I drew inspiration from punk and hardcore posters, including a repeating hand drawn pattern and a bold serif font.
The original paper had a torn edge at the bottom, and is still on my wall at home.
For a series of 10 events I wanted to create a unified visual style, while also using the foresight to my advantage. This meant I could include elements such as the months along the top, shifting the bold month with each poster. I also created single-colour variants using an equation that shifted the hue 1/10th each time, creating a lovely 10 colour rainbow effect when they were eventually all released. I kept the designs black and white for cheap and easy printing, as we wanted posters to be a big part of the marketing.
Through the iterations of SK I've been responsible for plenty of things, and the visual identity has been very close to my heart. Combining roots in punk bands and DIY art scenes while still being approachable to a wide audience has been a difficult line to walk, especially with a brand that is closely tied to my own identity, but I've enjoyed the process.
The can design became our main logo, translating to shirts, stickers and pins, and being "crushed" for our final RIP SK event.
Three Prong Fork: created quickly using the prompt of "american gothic", this decal was a fun way to reimagine a classic work, putting emphasis on the pitchfork, while also trying to fit the existing style of Hop Nation.
Seven Clouds: using existing artwork, I was contacted to create an animation for social media. With only the flat image I seperated the clouds as best I could and created a simple paralax effect, adding more clouds in the background by manipulating the existing clouds on other layers.
Dreamberry: Using existing artwork, this decal and poster were made for a colaboration beer only served at Bar SK.
